As another hectic year draws to a close, we must take time to remember the importance of Christmas and that all important ‘peace and goodwill to all men’.
As November takes us forward to darker nights and the impending Christmas Festivities I recently took a sabbatical to my former residence Southend on Sea, in time for Halloween and All Saint’s Day.
The area of Leigh is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as “Legra”, a small fishing hamlet and many of the old buildings remain. I was particularly drawn to the emblems of Ships that were almost everywhere, but one in particular caught my attention.
A former sketch in an old Psychic Journal™ of a ‘metallic ship’ which was unbeknown to me the symbol of the Fisherman’s Mission in Old Leigh. The emblem adorns the gates of this fascinating place steeped in history.
I also decided to bake Soul Cakes, to celebrate All Soul’s Day, which follows Halloween (Hallowe’en), or All Hallow’s Eve as it is also known, and All Saint’s Day (All Hallow’s Day – Hallow being the old English word for Saint) which is on the 1st November a day observed as a Celtic festival called “Samhain” or “Feast of the Dead” a day with bonfires lit at night, in order to light the soul’s way to heaven.
And that’s where Soul-Cakes come in the British culinary tradition – “Souling” would take place the night before All Soul’s day, where “Soulers” would travel from door to door begging for soul-cakes and spiced ale in return for prayers and songs.
It seemed the perfect way to commemorate not only this important day, but also my return to a place where I felt my soul remained.
- 175g butter (6ozs)
- 175g caster sugar (6ozs)
- 3 egg yolks
- 450g plain flour (1lb)
- 2 teaspoons mixed spice
- 100g currrants (4 ozs)
They are a cross between biscuit and a scone, bake them at around 180c/375F, Gas Mark 5 until slightly golden, around 10 – 12 minutes.
The recent Easter entries into the Psychic Journal™ reflected the theme of ‘life and death’ as I sketched out the weary soul, shrouded by the Green Fluorite and Citrine Egg.
Taking inspiration from the song Barriers, I felt as though this lady had a memory ‘burned’ inside her mind, of her Mother, and the gracious smile she was so well known for.
The song Barriers represented the Barriers she was to face in the coming months, challenges with career, interpersonal relationships and her own sense of ‘self’.
Her Psychic Journal™ entry reflected her need to face her fears and hold true to the memory of her Mother, placing a Peace Lily upon her path for the month of August, a sign of a passing, but also a time when her life would once again be as she needed it to be.
The Green Fluorite and Citrine Egg represent the need for ‘newness and structure’ in her life, something that had been sadly lacking. Fluorite being the Mind Expander, it would allow her to think beyond the limitations of what she currently knew in order to find her correct path.
To attune her to her life path the lady held Citrine, commanding the changes required to move her life in the direction she needed.
With Intuitive Guidance she was able to feel at peace with herself and not feel as though life had simply ‘passed her by’.
Crystal Easter Eggs feature in my Good Friday entry into the Psychic Journal™ alongside the song The Big Hurt by Scott Walker.
Oh, each time you go
I try to pretend
It’s over at last
This time the big hurt will end
Taking inspiration from the song I felt this person had endured more than she should, and was at the point of ‘no return’ in her life.
Her Kunzite tears reflected her heartbreak as Kunzite is the ‘Healer of Broken Hearts’.
This lady also emerged from the Crystal Egg, symbolic of her ‘rebirth’ into a new life, a resurrection of sorts into a life that was finally of her choosing and free from her current pain and sadness, something she has carried for too long.
The Kunzite Egg was also a place of great ‘protection’ a sign that when she makes the major life change, she will be guided by Spirit towards a safer place, one that reassure her she made the right choices.
It also represented the ‘future self’, a stronger and more confident person as a result of her breaking free from her current ‘hurts’.
With Intuitive Guidance she was able to release the fears of ‘what may be’ and prepare to take a bold step towards her new life.
As the time of delicias de almendras has arrived I would like to thank everyone who has chosen me for their Psychic Guidance in the past 12 months. It has been a fast paced year, one where many have sought answers to find a little peace in this somewhat hectic life we lead.
